If you are planning to take your kitty on a trip, a cat carrier is vital. Although you can find expensive carriers, you can also find models made of cardboard that are very affordable. Find out why your kitty needs to be confined when in your car.
Your pet’s safety is a primary concern. Pets that aren’t confined can be injured during quick stops or even thrown from the vehicle. You could also get hurt in such as situation if the animal hits you. An unconfined cat could cause distractions for you. One scenario is that kitty could catch sight of a dog while you are driving and panic. It could also get under your feet and cause you to not be able to accelerate or brake at a critical moment. You may like having your pet in your lap, but remember that a deployed airbag could quickly end your pet’s life.
Keeping kitty comfortable is also important. Kitties prefer enclosed spaces when they are in unfamiliar territory. Since they are more comfortable, they may even fall asleep. They will be less likely to see something out the window like a dog that would cause panic.
Messes are another issue. Unfortunately, some kitties get stressed when in the car. This could cause vomiting, urinating or bowel movements. Cleaning up the mess will be easier from a pet carrier rather than on the floor of your car. You probably won’t find as much fur in your car, either.
What to do with the cat when you arrive at your destination is also an issue. Going to the vet? Kitty might not be cooperative. Your kitty could escape from you and get lost.
If you have several animals that need to be transported at once, you will want carriers for all of them. This will avoid fights while driving down the road if they are loose or even housed in the same crate. If there is an accident, you won’t have to worry about them getting hurt from striking each other if they are in separate crates.
A cat carrier is a necessity for your pet’s well-being and comfort as well as reducing messes for you to clean up. Also, the ride will be much more safe for you and any passengers who may be with you.
